Others would argue Con Photoshop . . .

Disadvantages:

“Photoshop can’t make vector images”

“Difficult to learn”
“some people take it out of proportion and edited too much of their picture and its not the real thing anymore…”

“plug-ins are essential"

"doesn’t support production”

“a lot of different tools that do very different things, so it takes time and patience with yourself in order to learn how to use each one correctly.”

“takes up a large amount of room on your computer”

“very hard to use and you would need a manual or someone to sit with you as you learn, each different version is totally different so for each different version you will have to relearn how to use Adobe Photoshop. It also costs a lot of money to get with buying the program and the license that goes with it."

Many would argue Pro Photoshop . . .

Advantages:

“photoshop can do the graphics and the text all in one program. With layers you can change the size of each element independently.”

“manipulation of color

vector capabilities

filter capabilities/ effects

fonts/ graphics

pre press capabilities

can find affordable plug-ins

can find experience in candidates

multiple platforms/ cross platforms

less expensive”

“helping someone improve the quality of a photograph, to being an assistant with artists like me, who rely on photoshop to make artwork. The more you learn how to use photoshop, the more it can improve your skills.”

“create professional, beautiful graphic works
growing ability to effectively express yourself creatively
an enjoyable profession, burgeoning career or hobby
enhance your portfolio or resume
an investment that will pay off through time in financial and personal fulfillment
increased proficiency and performance
seeing your visual ideas and dreams come to life
becoming a creative graphics professional or image editor
meeting and exceeding certain job skill requirements
[ride in your work and self accomplishment (as you grow)
higher pay for higher ability
mastery over the software program instead of intimidation
ineffective downtime to create results
being able to share your work with friends family and co-workers.”

Thesis . . .

Thesis:  Photoshop is one of the best, most used graphic design programs around. Some people have a real talent for it, making their photos incredible and amazing, but others, take it very out of hand and abuse the uses of the program. In my eyes, photoshop has taken away the need to be a good photographer. Instead you just need to be a pro at photoshop.
